Recruiting PracticesOur employees are the most important part of Commercial Cleaning Services. It is their consistent performance, which has helped make our company one of the most reputable in the area. Finding the right person for the job is critical. Our hiring procedure consists of four stages: 1. We advertise locally. It is important that employees live close to the job site. Our applicants are encouraged to apply in person as first impressions are critical. Valuable information can be gained at this stage. We generally ask for all employees to have Grade 12 education level however, this is not always a realistic expectation in the Service Industry, therefore, we set Grade 9 as the minimum threshold. It is important that all employees be fully literate in English or French and be able to do basic math. Some experience in the industry is important, but not always necessary as we take great pride in training our new staff members. However, persons filling roles such as Day Porters or Heavy Duty/Special Purpose Cleaners must prove suitable experience to fulfill these roles. 2. All employees must be physically capable of handling the normal demands of generally labour intensive work. Applications are sorted according to experience and hiring criteria. Three applicants per position are called for interviews. After all interviews, references are checked and one applicant is offered the position, pending security checks. 3. The employee is asked to meet their Supervisor at the job site for orientation and training. New employees are never left to work on their own. Supervisors work along side them until they are confident new employees can perform tasks safely, effectively and to the satisfaction of the customer. Each new employee is on probation for a month and if, at the end of that period, they cannot deliver our promise of customer satisfaction, they will be replaced. 4. Employees are considered for a wage increase after a 3-month probationary period. If supervisors and managers feel that their performance does not warrant an increase, the employee will be made aware of the reasons why and offered a chance to improve their work and receive the increase.
